My Reading List

My Reading List is a new feature here at TGaM. Here I'll talk all about the books I read, likes and dislikes, and general gossip I pick up about authors, characters, etc.

In other words, if you're feeling nerdy, this part of the site is for you!

My ranking system:
* - Hog Vomit, I would only read it if I was getting paid or receiving college credit to read it. And even then, I'd check for the Cliff Notes.
** - Drivel, and I might recommend it (to someone who likes drivel).
*** -  I feel...ambivalent. It's not hog vomit, but it ain't nothing worth writin' home about.
**** - It rocked my socks, and I would recommend this to my best friend or to my students.
***** - It didn't just rock my socks, they blew clean off! I will re-read this. Soon. Don't ask to borrow my copy.

Recent Reads:
1. I Am Scout: The Biography of Harper Lee by Charles J. Shields
****This was excellent. I recommend it to anyone who teaches To Kill a Mockingbird, or simply loves the story.

2. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
**I won't read this again. Check out the full review for a list of my reasons why.

3. The Eighth Confession by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro
***Since this is part of the Women's Murder Club series, I feel committed to finishing the series. Likeable characters (a hallmark of Patterson), but a predictable conclusion.

4. Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs
As a long-time fan of the Fox series Bones, I felt like it was high time I started reading Reichs Temperance Brennan series. This will be great for summer reading -- I think there are a total of 9 or 10 books in the series at this time. Can't wait to bring you another review. =]
